In-person payments

Your Android phone
is already your terminal.

The customer holds their card or phone to the back of yours and the payment shows up approved in Recaudo, next to their invoices and chats. No reader to buy, no rental fees.

Available for businesses with card payments enabled in Recaudo.

How it works

From amount to receipt without putting your phone down. This is how it looks in Recaudo.

01

Enter the amount or pick what they are paying.

Type the amount in Charge. If it is an outstanding balance, pick the customer's invoice or layaway and the payment is applied to it for you.

Charge

02

The customer taps their card on your phone.

Tap Charge with Tap to Pay and Stripe's payment screen opens, showing where the NFC reader is on your model. Contactless cards and digital wallets work. If the bank asks for a PIN, the customer types it on your phone.

Charge

03

The balance drops and the receipt goes out.

Once the payment is approved, the invoice is marked paid right away and you send the receipt by WhatsApp or email from the same screen. Everything is saved in the customer's history.

What happens after the payment

It's applied to the balance

If you charged an invoice or layaway, the balance drops right away, just like a payment link.

Also at the point of sale

Build the cart in the app's point of sale and charge the total with Tap to Pay.

If the card can't be read

Send a payment link from the same screen and the customer finishes on their phone.

If the app closes mid-payment

Recaudo asks Stripe for the result. If it wasn't approved, you get a notification to charge again.

What you need

  • A phone with Android 13 or later, NFC and Google Play.
  • A phone that isn't rooted or modified, with developer options turned off. Stripe checks this on every payment to protect the customer's card.
  • The latest version of the Recaudo app from Google Play.
  • Card payments enabled in Recaudo. If you don't have them yet, turn them on from the app by connecting Stripe; Stripe reviews your business details first.
  • Your business address. The app asks for it the first time.

Card details never touch Recaudo

The card is read on Stripe's payment screen, which runs separately from the app, and Stripe processes the charge. Recaudo only receives the result (approved or declined, amount and time) to save it with the customer. The card number never reaches our servers.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to buy a terminal?

No. You use your Android phone and the Recaudo app; there's no reader to pair or charge.

Does it work on any Android phone?

On most phones with Android 13 or later and NFC. If yours doesn't qualify, the app tells you why: NFC off, developer options on, or a model Stripe doesn't support.

Which payment methods does it accept?

Contactless credit and debit cards, plus digital wallets like Google Pay, Apple Pay or Samsung Pay, on a phone or a watch.

Where do I hold the card?

Usually on the back, near the camera or in the middle; it depends on the model. The payment screen marks the exact spot.

What if the card can't be read or the bank declines it?

Ask for another contactless card or a digital wallet. If there isn't one, tap “Charge with payment link” and the customer pays from their phone.

What if my team uses iPhone?

They can charge with Tap to Pay on iPhone from the same Recaudo account. Everyone uses the app on their own phone.

Your next in-person payment
comes from the phone in your pocket.
