Take card payments in person
with Tap to Pay on iPhone.
Your customer holds their card or phone near your iPhone. A few seconds later the approved payment shows up in Recaudo, next to their invoices and chats. All you need is the app.
Available for businesses with card payments active in Recaudo.
How a payment works
Enter the amount
Type it in Charge. If you are collecting a balance, pick the invoice or layaway and the payment is applied to it.
Tap Tap to Pay on iPhone
The payment screen opens on your iPhone. If the app is still getting ready, you will see its progress.
Your customer taps their card
Contactless cards and digital wallets like Apple Pay both work. If the bank asks for a PIN, turn the iPhone toward the customer so they can enter it.
Send the receipt
Send it on WhatsApp or by email from the same screen. The payment is saved with the customer.
What happens after the payment
The balance goes down
If you charged an invoice or a layaway, its balance updates right away, just like a payment-link payment.
Works at the point of sale too
Build the cart in the app's point of sale and charge the total with Tap to Pay on iPhone.
If the card won't read
Send a payment link from the same screen and your customer finishes on their phone.
If the app closes mid-payment
Recaudo checks the result with Stripe. When a payment was not approved, you get a notification so you can charge again.
What you need
- An iPhone XS or later running iOS 17.6 or later, with a passcode set.
- The latest version of the Recaudo app.
- Card payments active in Recaudo. If you don't have them yet, turn them on from the app by connecting Stripe; Stripe reviews your business details before enabling them.
- Your business address. The app asks for it when you turn the feature on.
- Your business administrator accepts Apple's terms. It happens once, and then the rest of your team can take payments from their iPhones.
Card details never go through Recaudo
The card is read on the iPhone payment screen and Stripe processes the payment. Recaudo receives the result (approved or declined, amount and time) and saves it with the customer. The card number never reaches our servers.
